Benefits

The main goal of corrective jaw surgery is to properly align the jaw, but other benefits include:

  • Maximized function of teeth and jaw
  • Enhanced facial appearance
  • Possible speech improvements

Steps

  1. Consultation
During your first visit to our Greenville or Simpsonville office, we will evaluate your condition and determine if orthognathic surgery is right for you.

  1. Orthodontic Correction
The first step in treatment involves straightening the teeth with orthodontics.

  1. Surgery
After straightening the teeth, corrective jaw surgery corrects the misaligned jaw through repositioning.

  1. Recovery
A recovery plan will be provided, including a recommended diet, pain medication and a follow-up appointment. The initial healing phase after orthognathic surgery lasts about 6 weeks, but complete healing of the jaws requires 9 to 12 months.
