Orthognathic surgery, also known as corrective jaw surgery, is needed when jaws don’t meet correctly and/or teeth don’t align correctly. The first step is straightening the teeth with orthodontics and then corrective jaw surgery corrects the misaligned jaw through repositioning. This has the benefit of improving facial appearance while also ensuring that teeth alignment and bite is correctly balanced and function is maximized. The main goal of jaw surgery is to improve function and correct the bit, but many patients will also experience noted improvements in the appearance and sometimes even their speech. Our specialized surgeons and staff will evaluate you and discuss your options including determining if orthognathic surgery is right for you.
